Fleur du Mal: the New York lingerie label we turn to for the wedding day and the one after

Fleur du Mal Angel Sleeve Robe at Mae Bridal, silk charmeuse robe, bridal getting ready robe, honeymoon robe

Fleur du Mal has quietly been running the lingerie drawer at Mae Bridal since the day we brought it in, and we are finally giving it its own moment. Founded in 2012 by Jennifer Zuccarini in New York, the label takes its name from Baudelaire's Les Fleurs du Mal, and it was built around one idea: a piece of lingerie should be good enough to be seen, not just worn under something else.

Below is our full point of view on the line, plus a first look at seven pieces now available through Mae Bridal, our Los Angeles bridal boutique.

What makes a Fleur du Mal bridal lingerie different

Fleur du Mal builds almost everything around three materials: silk luxe, organic cotton and French Leavers lace, the lace-making tradition behind most heritage lingerie houses. Pieces like the Frankie Lace Boned Balconette and the Frankie Lace Slip Dress carry that lace in a scalloped pattern, cut and finished to hold its shape rather than sag after a few wears. Robes and slips lean on silk charmeuse instead, a soft, fluid weight that drapes rather than clings. The house describes its own point of view as delicate, with edge, which is a fair way to put it: romantic materials cut into shapes that are more structured, and more considered, than most lingerie labeled bridal.

The pieces

Frankie Lace Boned Balconette

Fleur du Mal's most structured bra starts here. The Frankie Lace Boned Balconette uses internal silk boning and a silk sling at the bottom of the cup to hold its shape without an underwire, finished in French Leavers lace with a light foam lining for natural lift. It is built to wear solo under a strapless or corset gown, no slip required. Shop the Frankie Lace Boned Balconette, $198.

Lily Embroidery Plunge Demi Bra

The plunge cut here is doing double duty, going low enough for a deep neckline while large embroidered lilies and an underwire cup keep everything in place. It is also one of the wider-sizing pieces in the lineup, running bands 30 to 40 and cups A to G, so more brides can actually wear it under a plunging bodice. Shop the Lily Embroidery Plunge Demi Bra, $138.

Frankie Lace V-String

Fleur du Mal Frankie Lace V-String on model at Mae Bridal, bridal thong, v-string thong, french leavers lace thong

The matching half to the Boned Balconette, in the same French Leavers lace with a silk charmeuse trim at the waistband. A v-string back and a cotton gusset keep it from reading as costume lingerie, and the adjustable side straps mean it sits where you want it, not where the elastic decides. Shop the Frankie Lace V-String, $88.

Lily Embroidery Garter Belt

If a wedding garter is part of your plan, this is the belt we point brides to first. The signature lily embroidery and mesh paneling sit at the waist with a centre back closure, light enough to wear under a fitted gown without adding bulk at the hip. Shop the Lily Embroidery Garter Belt, $98.

Eva Skirt

Fleur du Mal Eva Skirt on model at Mae Bridal, bridal skirt, silk bridal skirt, bridal separates

A silk piece built for after the ceremony rather than under it. The Eva Skirt is fully lined with a silk charmeuse waistband and cascade detailing through the hem, so it moves the way a reception skirt should. Pair it with one of the house's camisole tops for a second look that still reads bridal. Shop the Eva Skirt, $598.

Frankie Lace Slip Dress

Fleur du Mal Frankie Lace Slip Dress on model at Mae Bridal, silk slip dress, lace slip dress, bias cut slip dress

A bias cut silk charmeuse slip dress finished with scalloped French Leavers lace at the neckline and a keyhole back. It is simple enough to wear on its own for a courthouse or civil ceremony, and dressy enough to work as a second look under a cape or jacket. Shop the Frankie Lace Slip Dress, $628.

Angel Sleeve Robe

Fleur du Mal Angel Sleeve Robe on model at Mae Bridal, bridal robe, getting ready robe, silk charmeuse robe

The one Fleur du Mal piece most brides already know. Cut in 19mm silk charmeuse with wide, dramatic angel sleeves, it wraps across the body and ties with a sash rather than a traditional belt, so it photographs well open or closed for getting-ready shots. Shop the Angel Sleeve Robe, $298.

Shop Fleur du Mal at our Los Angeles bridal boutique

Fleur du Mal is stocked and fast shipping through Mae Bridal. Orders are dispatched directly within 1 to 3 business days, with standard US transit of 3 to 7 business days, so none of this carries the months-long wait of a made-to-order gown. Sizing runs XS to XL in ready-to-wear, bra bands 30 to 40, and most intimates also sell by a numbered size 1 to 5. We are the stockist, not the maker, so if you have a question about fit or fabric before you order, email us and we will help you choose.

Browse the rest of our Fleur du Mal collection for the full lineup of bras, thongs, garters, robes and slip dresses. If you are planning out everything your wedding day needs, our bridal lingerie for your wedding day and beyond guide covers what to wear under the gown itself, and our wedding night lingerie guide picks up from there through the honeymoon.

Fleur du Mal bridal lingerie, answered

Who is behind Fleur du Mal?

Fleur du Mal is a New York lingerie and ready-to-wear label founded in 2012 by Jennifer Zuccarini. The name comes from Baudelaire's Les Fleurs du Mal, and the collection is built almost entirely around silk luxe, organic cotton and French Leavers lace.

How fast does Fleur du Mal ship?

Fleur du Mal ships directly to you from the designer. Orders are dispatched within 1 to 3 business days, with standard US transit of 3 to 7 business days, so most pieces arrive well inside two weeks of ordering.

Can I return Fleur du Mal lingerie?

It depends on the piece. Bras, thongs, v-strings and garters can't be returned once they ship, for health and hygiene reasons, so they are final sale. Robes, skirts and slip dresses, like the Eva Skirt and the Angel Sleeve Robe, are returnable within 14 days of delivery, unworn and with tags on.

What sizes does Fleur du Mal run?

Ready-to-wear pieces run XS to XL, bras run bands 30 to 40 with cups up to G depending on the style, and most intimates also sell by a numbered size 1 to 5. Check the size chart on each product page before you order, since the range shifts a little by category.
