About Designer
Atana, which the founders also call House of ATANA, was started in 2020 by the sisters Aneliya and Tanya Kyurkchieva and is based in London. Aneliya spent five years as an embroidery designer at Alexander McQueen, and the craft goes back further than that, to the women in her family who embroidered and knitted at home. The house makes shoes and bags, with a bridal collection at the center of the line.
Every pair is handcrafted in the European Union in leather, suede and fine mesh, or a mix of the three, with raised hand embroidery worked over the sheer panels so the pattern seems to sit on the skin. Motifs are chosen for what they mean rather than for decoration alone. The soles are cushioned with memory gel, which is what makes these a wedding shoe a bride can stay standing in all evening.
